The BJP has trumped Mayawati-led BSP's alliance with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh.

As the BJP-led NDA government looks set to make a comeback, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said the 2019 Lok Sabha election results is against the "expectations and sentiments of people".

"Today's result is against the expectations and sentiments of people. Anyway, when all the institutions of the country start bending their knees before the government, the public has to take a stand," Mayawati was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

The BJP has trumped her BSP's alliance with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party in the Uttar Pradesh. However, her party has done better than in 2014 Lok Sabha polls when it drew a complete blank.

The BJP is all set to return to power with a bigger majority in the Lok Sabha than 2014.

As per the latest trend, the BJP is likely to win around 300 seats in the Lok Sabha despite anti-incumbency if there was any as the Opposition projected.

The BJP has got more than 41 per cent of total votes polled in the just-concluded Lok Sabha election.

Earlier, different exit polls have suggested that the SP-BSP-RLD alliance is all set to dent the Bharatiya Janata Party's 2014 tally in Uttar Pradesh, though it might not be able to throw a spanner in the formation of an NDA government at the Centre.
