The Rajagopal Nagar police, on Tuesday, arrested four men who allegedly hacked a 37-year-old man to death on May 12. The prime accused, Kishore, is absconding, said the police.

The victim identified as Umesh owned a roadside eatery in the area and lived with his wife in a rented house. Earlier this year, he had given shelter to Kishore, a distant relative.

While staying at his place, Kishore and Umesh’s wife became close friends. Unhappy with this, Umesh asked Kishore to leave the house. Later, he found that Kishore had uploaded a video of his wife on social media, following which he filed a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested and remanded in judicial custody. “When Kishore came out on bail, he gathered his associates and plotted revenge against Umesh,” said the police.

His associates — Rakesh, Jitendra, Sumanth Raj and Pradeep — have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. “Efforts are on to nab Kishore,” the police said.
