Bharatiya Janta Party's (BJP) national President Amit Shah, who is fighting the Lok Sabha elections 2019 from the Gandhinagar seat in Gujarat, is set to win as he already is leading by more than 5 lakh votes at the time of publishing this article. This was the 1st time that Shah fought the Parliamentary elections and just like in the rest of his political career, he has managed to find success in the first instant.
With more than 8,80,000 votes polled in his favour, Shah comfortably leads Congress's Dr. CJ Chavda who lies second with over 3,30,000 votes. According to the Election Commission's website, Shah has managed to win 69.7 % of the votes which is a huge share in itself.
Previously held by BJP stalwart LK Advani, the Gandhinagar seat is one of the most bankable seats for the BJP. Advani won the elections for 6 times from the same seat and was representing the constituency for the past five Lok Sabha elections since 1991. Leading by more than 5,00,000 votes, Shah has the chance to break Advani's record of winning the Gandhinagar seat by 4.83 lakh votes.
Meanwhile, the BJP looks set to end up with a huge majority in the Lok Sabha having consigned the Congress to what could be a below-100 figure. The latter had got only 44 seats in the 2014 elections but couldn't improve its tally by a large margin this time around.
