Ludhiana: In view of Lok Sabha elections-2019, the counting of votes for Ludhiana parliamentary constituency will be held at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) campus here on May 23. District election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal on Tuesday visited all counting centres and inspected the preparations there. He was also accompanied by representatives of different political parties.
Agrawal stated that the counting of votes for all nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies falling in Ludhiana parliamentary constituency-7 would be held at different places in PAU campus, while the counting for five Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Ludhiana district — which are a part of Fatehgarh Sahib parliamentary constituency — would be held at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) here.
He informed that the counting of votes for Ludhiana East constituency would be held in the library hall of Government Senior Secondary Smart School; Ludhiana South on the 2nd floor, examination hall-cum-lecture theatre complex; Atam Nagar in the examination hall, near Kisan Training Centre; Ludhiana Central and North at gymnasium hall, ground floor; Ludhiana North at multi-purpose hall, Government Senior Secondary Smart School; Gill on the ground floor, examination hall-cum-theatre complex, opposite Department of Vegetable Science & Fruit Science; Dakha at the dining hall of Sukhdev Bhawan; and Jagraon at Dr DS Dev examination hall, College of Agriculture.
Similarly, the counting of votes for five Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Ludhiana district would be held at Khanna on the 2nd floor, GNE Polytechnic College; Samrala at New Sports Hall Complex; Sahnewal on the 2nd floor, examination hall, GNE Polytechnic College, Gill Road; Payal on the 2nd floor, mechanical hall, GNE Polytechnic College; and Raikot on the 1st floor, GNE Polytechnic College.
Agrawal informed that adequate number of counting teams have been deputed for the counting of votes for all nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies falling under Ludhiana parliamentary constituency-7, whereas reserve teams would also be deputed. He stated that micro observers, counting supervisors, assistant counting supervisors etc, would also be deputed. For the benefit of mediapersons, a media centre for Ludhiana parliamentary constituency would be set up at Sukhdev Bhawan, PAU; while for Fatehgarh Sahib constituency, the media centre will be at GNE Polytechnic College here.
