2 Karnataka men die in accident at Dharbandora

PONDA: Rahul Mhanalkar, 24, and Bhimani Galebalikar, 23, both residents of Nittur village of Khanapur taluka in Karnataka, died on the spot in an accident at Dayanandnagar in Dharbandora, on Tuesday evening.
Police said the accident occurred while Mhanalkar and Galebalikar were returning on a two-wheeler after holidaying in Goa. Sources said the duo lost control after the two-wheeler was allegedly hit by an oncoming car near the Sanjivani Sugar Factory. The car was moving towards Ponda.
Ponda police have detained the driver of the car, Rishi Sahay, and an offence has been registered against him. Police have also seized the car.

The bodies of the deceased have been preserved at the Ponda sub-district hospital’s mortuary, and will be shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital at Bambolim for a postmortem examination after their family members arrive in Goa, police said.
In an another accident on Sunday, 18-year-old Raju Rathod, from Gadag-Karnataka, died after his motorcycle dashed against a road divider. Rathod, who was residing at Calangute, was proceeding to Karnataka, police said.
