Indore: Gear up for long power cuts. The city will have to face four hours of power cut for maintenance work from May 25. Madhya Pradesh West Region Power Distribution Company Ltd (west discom) is preparing a schedule for power shutdown.
The west discom conducts maintenance work ahead of monsoon every year. This year, the company had reportedly planned shutdown for maintenance work from last week of April but the plan was dropped due to Lok Sabha elections.
Now that polling is over and results have yet to come on May 23, west discom officers met on Tuesday to prepare area-wise schedule for power shutdown. According to information, the company will go for power shutdown from 8 am to 12 noon and complete maintenance work across the city by June 10. The city has a total of 450 feeders.
The maintenance work will be first carried out on 50 to 60 feeders from where maximum numbers of complaints of line tripping are received. During the same period, the company will install new electricity poles in 29 villages, which were brought under the municipal limit two years back.
RECOVERY FROM SATURDAY
West discom will begin revenue recovery from defaulters. The company has asked defaulters to pay the pending dues immediately else their connections will be snapped. The recovery drive will start from those areas where smart meters were installed. As per information, the company is Rs 8 crore short of revenue target.
