Gurgaon: Traffic police on Tuesday issued an
advisory asking citizens to avoid all routes going towards
Government College for Girls on
Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, Sector 14, on May 23.
The advisory is in view of the
counting of votes for the district scheduled in the college premises.
Traffic police noted that in order to ensure security on counting day, the area surrounding the counting centre will be under high security.
Speaking to TOI, Himanshu Garg, DCP (traffic), said the use of road between
Mahavir Chowk and MDI Chowk, as well as the stretch along the college up to 32 Milestones, will be manned by
securing personnel, and the movement of general public will remain suspended on these routes, starting 7am till late in the evening.
“Roads outside the college will be sanitised and will be under high security during the counting process, which starts early in the morning. About 50 traffic police personnel will be deployed to ensure security of the area, and these routes will not be open to public,” Garg noted. He added traffic on these routes will resume as soon as counting is concluded.
The advisory further read that while these routes can be accessed by counting staff, counting agents and candidates, to come to the centre, their vehicles shall not be allowed to be parked inside the college. They can, however, park their vehicles at the parking lot of ITI and Vyapar Sadan.
