Kanpur: The police on Tuesday night arrested two persons in the high-profile murder of railway
engineer Ajay Kumar Singh in Fatehpur on the morning of May 14.
Police said the murder was committed as Ajay Kumar had sent an adverse report and stopped the payment of a contractor, who hails from his home town Firozabad, due to poor work.
On receiving specific inputs, a police team raided hideous of criminals at Haswa area of Fatehpur and nabbed two persons — Mukhiya and Om Prakash alias Lambu.
“The two during interrogation told investigators that they along with three others, including Manish Jadhav, Sunil Jadhav and contractor Ayush Sharma, had committed the murder of railway engineer Ajay Kumar on the instructions of the contractor, who belongs to the native district of the deceased,” said SP Fatehpur Kailash Singh.
Ajay Kumar, 30, an engineer with railways, was shot dead in Fatehpur district on May 14 morning while he was on his way to a railway plant where he worked. The incident had occurred near Akari turn at around 9 am. He was going to the railway plant in a Bolero driven by driver Shyamu.
SP added, “As the engineer had sent adverse report and stop contractor’s Ayush’s payment amounting to Rs 9 lakh due to poor work, he had to incur the wrath of the latter.”
Separate teams have been formed to arrest Manish Jadhav, Sunil Jadhav and contractor Ayush Sharma, who are on run, SP added.
