NEW DELHI: The capital is likely to receive relief from the heat in the next 72 hours starting Wednesday with a spell of light rain and thunderstorm activity, the IMD said. The election result day is also likely to see light rain with overcast skies and gusty winds ranging between 30-40 km/hr, Met officials said.

maximum temperature was recorded at 41 degrees Celsius on Tuesday - one degree above normal for this time of the season. Officials from the regional meteorological department say Delhi's maximum temperature is expected to fall to around 38 degrees Celsius by Thursday, due to light showers.
"The rain will provide a cooling effect and the maximum and minimum temperatures can once again fall below normal," said a Met official. At present, Delhi's
air quality is in the 'moderate' range. However, a slight deterioration in air quality is expected over the next three days.
