AHMEDABAD: In a freak accident, 2 bike borne-men were charred to death as the vehicle suddenly caught a fire when they along with a woman were riding it on Bavla-Dholka Road in Gujarat's Ahmedabad district, a police official said.
The deceased were identified as Sachinkumar Navin Mistry, 33, a resident of Meghaninagar in Ahmedabad city, and Rakesh Parvat Damor, 23, a resident of Bavla and native of Godhra. Damor’s wife, Aarti, 21, who suffered severe burns, is critical, said sub-inspector NM Chaudhary of Bavla police.
Chaudhary said that Mistry was a labour contractor and two were working as a daily-wage labourer.
Deputy superintendent of police (Dy SP) Baldevsinh Vaghela said that the incident occurred late on Tuesday night when the three were riding on bike. The two men died on the spot due to severe burns whereas the woman was first referred to a primary health centre in Moraiya village of Sanand and later shifted to civil hospital in Sola area of the city.

According to prima facie investigation, the fire erupted due to short circuit in spark plug of the bike. Police also had to struggle to ascertain the identities of the two victims as their bodies and clothes were charred and the cops could not even get some identity proofs. After an intensive probe, police got to know about the identities of the two.
Police registered a case of accidental death and began an investigation.
