Rs 48 Lakh gold paste seized at Goa airport

Officials said the accused had arrived in the state from Muscat in an Air Oman flight.
VASCO: Customs officials at the Goa airport on Tuesday detected a case of gold smuggling. The seized gold, worth approximately Rs 48.5 lakh, was recovered from the waste belt and shoe soles of an international passenger.
Officials said the accused had arrived in the state from Muscat in an Air Oman flight. The passenger was caught with 1,630gm of gold paste.
The seizure was carried out under the provisions of the Indian Customs Act, 1962.

Since April 2019, the Air Customs of Goa Commissionerate has seized gold worth Rs 60.7 lakh .
The customs team was headed by assistant commissioner of customs N G Patel, and Deepak Gawai, and was guided by additional commissioner of customs K Meena.
