Of these, PMRDA has pulled down 118 structures and will take action against 597 others, officials said. The action will resume next week, once the model code of conduct is lifted.
Nearly 273 property owners have applied for regularization and paid the penalty charges, an official added. "We are pulling down structures that cannot be regularized at all," officials said.
"Those who approach us with the necessary documents and can ensure required changes can pay the penalty. But this has to be within norms,''an official said.
In 2016, the collectorate had surveyed the district and prepared a list of 15,000 illegal constructions, which were mainly spread across the PMRDA region.
Rampant illegal constructions have been an issue for the 7,300 sq meter region, for which a separate cell was constituted.
