Pune: A total of 72,690 persons visited the 30 police stations under Pune city police between September 1, 2018 and May 20 this year, as per the records of Service Excellence and Victim Assistance (SEVA) app, said DCP Bachchan Singh.
He was addressing a press conference on the functioning of SEVA. “The aim is to take feedback from people within seven days about their experiences and whether their issues were resolved or not. Till now we have called up 50,702 persons for their feedback and 50,294 of them have given a positive review. Senior police officers are personally looking into issues of 408 persons who were not satisfied with the response,” added DCP Bachchan Singh.
The SEVA facility has been extended to 102 police chowkies across the city.
“A large number of people visit the police station which is close to their residence, hence we introduced SEVA at the chowki level also. In the past, warnings and memos have been issued to police inspectors for not working. Now such tendency has reduced,” added DCP (Headquarters) Swapna Gore.
Under the SEVA system, a constable has been entrusted with the job of jotting down details of every person visiting the police station. The constable has been given a tablet. He or she feeds the details of the visitor. Using the data, a team sitting at the control room at the Police Commissioner’s office in Camp, calls up every person to know about their experience and whether they are satisfied with the services. Every day 300 to 400 persons are being called up to get their feedback. Team of senior officers comprising Additional CP (East Region) Sunil Phulari, DCP (Zone 2) Bachchan Singh and ACP (Operations) Deepak Humbre are monitoring the SEVA facility.
