Recently, Aaradhya Bachchan made a big wave on the internet when a video of her dancing on a popular song as part of a fun dance show went viral. While many left lovely comments applauding the six-year old and called her 'mini Aishwarya in the making', trolls ruined the fun with the nasty comments they left on the video.
Watching the video, a lot of people, "concerned" about Aaradhya's rather thin legs called her malnourished, thin and asked her parents to feed her. Take a look at some of the comments:
Isn't this just plain rude, especially for a child to hear?
In the past too, Aaradhya has experienced her fair share of trolling. Her parents, especially Aishwarya, have been called out multiple times for their parenting style - from 'making her wear makeup' or just for 'holding her hand'.
Stop body shaming children, at once
Children might not be active on social media but they have a very innocent mind and do not know the difference between right and wrong. Comments like these, calling them "too thin", "fat" or "ugly" can hamper their mental development and lead to self-esteem issues. It can also leave behind resultant trauma and cause health disorders too. If, as an adult, we can't process such comments, how will the younger ones? That is why a lot of celebrity parents today are consciously trying to hide their kids from the camera flashes and paps.
Body shaming, commenting on someone's looks can have a lasting effect. Such comments may come disguised as mere "concern" or "advice" but it accounts to bullying and quit fairly negative behavior. Thin, skinny or healthy, nobody needs uninvited comments. When kids should be learning about body positivity and self-love, hearing such comments can be quite brutal.
Stop targeting kids and offer them a kind, positive and encouraging world to live in. If you do not have anything nice to say, don’t say it.
