  • A longstanding local milk bar is now on the market as a three bedroom home
  • The 1894 building was once a grocer and has retained its 'milk bar aesthetic'
  • It features three bedrooms, a spa bath, ensuite and ceiling fans installed

A much-loved milk bar that once sold lollies and other goodies has hit the market after being converted into a three bedroom home.

The circa-1894 local landmark in Flemington, Melbourne, originally operated as a grocer and has retained its charming 'milk bar aesthetic'.

Jellis Craig Kensington agent Jerome Feery told realestate.com that the late owner, Thelma, operated it from 1988 to 1999.

'[The milk bar] was a very community-minded place known for its yearly football tipping competition,' he said.

The interiors were rebuilt in 2000, and owner Thelma lived in the property following the milk bar's closure.

The yellow signage of 'Macca's Milk Bar' sits prominently above a corrugated roof, and hides three bedrooms and a spa bath.

At the front is the living room with large bay windows and the main bedroom features an ensuite with the spa bath and built-in wardrobes.

As well as this the dining area opens to the sheltered deck and a leafy courtyard at the rear.

A timber staircase leads to two attic-style bedrooms that share a tiled bathroom, skylights and inbuilt storage.

The deceased estate will head under the hammer on June 15 with an $800,000 to $880,000 price tag.
