Tree Ambulance launched in Chennai

CHENNAI: Cyclones Vardah (2016) and Gaja (2018) uprooted lakhs of trees in Tamil Nadu. However, the state government has not announced any concerted greening programme.
An ambulance service has been started in Chennai in an attempt to revive trees after such calamities.
The service, called Tree Ambulance, was launched by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu as part of the International Biological Diversity Day.
Explaining the various services provided by the ambulance, its founder K Abdul Ghani said the ambulance would provide services like first aid, uprooted tree planting, seed ball distribution, plant distribution, aiding tree plantation, shifting trees, survey of trees and removal of dead trees.
A plant expert and helpers who are armed with gardening tools, water, manure and enzymes will travel in the Tree Ambulance.
