Tirupur: A government school in Iduvampalayam here has set up a well-furnished kabaddi turf under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scheme.
“Under the scheme, authorities chose the Iduvampalayam Government Higher Secondary School as ‘sports school’ and provided the required infrastructure to the extent of Rs 3lakh. The authorities agreed to establish a kabaddi turf after coming to know about the school’s kabaddi team, which has won medals in state-level tournaments. They established the soil turf at a cost of Rs 80,000 and purchased the required equipment,” headmistress P Rajeswari said.
“The infrastructure will encourage the players and help them push their limits. It will also help to conduct more kabaddi matches and tournaments in our school. The school also has good talents in sports like kho kho and we will also take steps to provide them the required infrastructure,” she added. TNN
