Facelifted Opel Astra Sports Tourer Makes A Predictable First Appearance

We’ve already seen a prototype of the facelifted Opel/Vauxhall Astra hatchback last month and now it’s time to see the more practical Sports Tourer variant at work.

It’s the first sighting of the facelifted Astra Sports Tourer which has been spotted by our photographers in Spain where it is currently undergoing testing. The refreshed compact wagon sports a similar camouflage to the five-door Astra hatch spied last month.

The Astra Sports Tourer prototype only wears camouflage at the front, leaving the rear end completely exposed — not that there are major changes there anyway. The only update brought to the rear involves the new graphics of the taillights.

The headlights receive different graphics as well but there are more changes to the front end than that: the grille and the bumper will likely feature subtle updates too. Elsewhere, the car looks just like the current model — including the interior.

While the facelifted Astra could bring some infotainment and safety upgrades, the dashboard looks unchanged according to our photographers who got a glimpse inside.

As for the mechanical hardware, expect the refreshed Astra to carry on with the same gasoline and diesel powertrains. A major change will come with the next-generation Astra which will switch to a PSA platform and therefore get the latest engines and tech from the French parent company.

The facelifted Opel/Vauxhall Astra is expected to launch later this year, possibly at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
