MANCHESTER UNITED are nearing a £15m deal for Swansea star Daniel James - and it seems rival boss Pep Guardiola is an admirer.

United have begun their summer overhaul after months of promises that several new players would join the Red Devils this summer.

And the first fresh face at Old Trafford will be Swansea winger James.

The club’s young player of the year was tipped for a move to the Premier League this summer after a breakout season at the Liberty Stadium.

And he looks to have landed a dream move to one of the biggest sides in world football.

“James is incredibly fast, it is not easy”

James has put in several quality performances this season, despite the Swans underwhelming in their first year back in the second tier since 2011.

However, the one showing which drew the most plaudits came against Manchester City in the FA Cup.

The south Wales side came within a whisker of dumping the eventual winners out of the competition at the quarter-final stage.

But the Sky Blues completed a remarkable, and rather controversial, comeback to down the Championship side.

And it seems one player caught City boss Pep Guardiola’s eye.

“James is incredibly fast, it is not easy,” the Spaniard said after the match.

The 21-year-old can play on either flank, and has picked up 10 assists this term in all competitions, also scoring four times.

And he proved to be a real handful when facing the Sky Blues, giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hope that he can perform well against the big teams.

The 21-year-old is understood to have agreed personal terms at United.

Having announced ex-Swansea boss Graham Potter as their manager yesterday, Brighton came in with a last-ditch bid to steal him away from the Red Devils clutches.

But James has turned down a reunion with Potter, having already made agreements with Old Trafford bigwigs.
