SP-BSP alliance to win over 70 seats: Srivastava

Allahabad: Senior Samajwadi Party leader and party’s state spokesperson K K Srivastava on Tuesday exuded confidence that the SP-BSP alliance (mahagathbandhan) would win more than 70 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
He said there have been many instances in the past when exit polls failed to gauge people’s electoral pulse.
Majority of these polls in 2004 had predicted another term for the BJP-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance ) at the Centre, but they were proved wrong once the results were out.
He said the entire exit poll exercise was a futile attempt to boost the image of a particular party.
Similarly, exits polls in 2012 state assembly elections had projected 150 seats for Samajwadi Party. However, SP bagged majority of seats once the results were declared.
Interacting with party workers at district headquarters, Srivastava said “SP and BSP workers had succeeded in bringing core voters and supporters to polling stations and this would surely yield the desired results.”
Rejecting the exit poll, party candidate from Allahabad parliamentary seat Rajendra Singh Patel said: “Hard work of party workers would surely yield favourable results.”

He said, “SP-BSP alliance has the support of farmers, youths, students and people from all sectors.”
Party candidate from Phulpur parliamentary seat, Pandhari Yadav said, “We would surely win both Allahabad and Phulpur Lok Sabha seats and hard work of workers would be honored.”
