Thiruvananthapuram: Major fire breaks out in shop at East Fort

No casualties have been reported since the shop was not opened for business
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major fire broke out in a shop at East Fort on Tuesday morning. Chellam Umbrella Mart was completely gutted in the fire.
The shop is situated in a densely populated shopping area and hence the firefighters were trying hard to prevent the spreading of fire to nearby shops.
No casualties have been reported since the shop was not opened for business. About four fire engines are at the spot to extinguish the blaze. The fire force personnel said that entire stock of materials kept in the shop has been burnt.

The police have evacuated all the people from the nearby shops. Fire force chief A Hemachandran said that situation was not under control.
The people staying in the nearby areas have been evacuated.
