For trying to frame him in assassination plot

The Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, is preparing to send a legal notice, which he intends to follow up with a defamation suit, to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia for allegedly attempting to “frame him” in relation to an alleged assassination plot against Mr. Kejriwal.

On Sunday, Mr. Gupta had filed a complaint at the Parliament Street police station regarding “a larger conspiracy against him to falsely implicate him in criminal cases”. “A legal notice has been prepared at my end and will be served on both Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Sisodia for their comments against me,” Mr. Gupta said.

“If they fail to respond to it within the stipulated time, it will be followed with a defamation notice,” he added.

‘Spoilt my image’

In his complaint on Sunday, Mr. Gupta had alleged that Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Sisodia were spreading misinformation through social media to implicate him in a criminal conspiracy with the intention to put him behind bars.

The Rohini legislator took to Twitter on Monday: “Kejriwal ji you and Dy. CM @msisodia have tweeted that 'BJP is hatching a conspiracy to assassinate CM @ArvindKejriwal. Vijendra Gupta is also part of this conspiracy. I am perturbed. You have spoilt my image. Take back your words by evening today, apologise; if not I will file a defamation case (against you) [sic.].”

Mr. Gupta claimed that on May 18, Mr. Sisodia — while replying to the BJP leader’s tweet claiming that Mr. Kejriwal had scripted an attack on himself during a roadshow during the Lok Sabha campaign — said the tweet proved that the CM’s security report reaches the BJP every day and that the party was using the information to hatch a conspiracy to eliminate the CM.

Mr. Gupta had claimed in his tweet that the CM himself told the liaison officer to remove the security cover of his vehicle in order to orchestrate the ‘Slapgate’ episode.
