Belagavi: All precautionary measures have been taken to maintain the law and order on Thursday when counting for the Lok Sabha elections will take place, said city police commissioner B S Lokesh Kumar.
In a release, the commissioner stated that Section 144 has been imposed in the premises of RPD College in Tilakwadi where the votes of Belagavi LS constituency will be counted. Central security forces will check the ID cards of candidates and agents before allowing them to enter the counting hall.
Food, water and toilets have been arranged for the agents on the same premises. However, items such as cell phones, cigarettes, lighters, gutkha and ink pens have been prohibited inside counting halls. He said that additional police force will be deployed in the city.
He also lister out measures for parking made at the counting centre. Candidates should enter from the first gate and park their vehicles at the playground while agents should park their vehicles near Union Bank inside the college. Journalists should park their vehicles at the mango park inside the college while other officers and personnel can park at the college ground.

The public who come from Gokak and Arabhavi should park at Lele Ground and Vaccine Depot while people of Bailhongal, Ramdurg and Soundatti should park on Old PB Road, Nath Pai Circle, Adarsh School Ground and at Adarsh Nagar. People of Belagavi should park at the third gate to Peeranwadi Road.
Police said there are chances of traffic problems at 1st, 2nd and 3rd railway gates due to ongoing smart city work and frequent closure of gates due to the movement of trains. The roads from Goaves to Big Bazar, Gogte Circle to 3rd railway gate and RPD circle to Somawar Peth have been earmarked as no parking zones. This apart, traffic has been diverted on many roads. Entry of all heavy vehicles has been prohibited from 7am to 7pm on Thursday.
