Woman and child die at lookout south of Sydney

A woman and child have died at a lookout south of Sydney.

Emergency services were called to Robertson Lookout, at Mount Keira near Wollongong, just after 1.50pm on Tuesday following reports multiple people might have gone over the edge of the cliff.

A police spokesperson said a rescue crew was on scene and an investigation into what happened was ongoing.

Emergency services were sighted taking abseiling gear from Harry Graham Drive, near the lookout, into the bush. A woman and child were located deceased below the lookout.
