JAIPUR: An unidentified man fired at a BJP councillor’s vehicle on the
JLN Marg late Sunday night. The councillor was not in the car when the shots were fired and though
no one was injured, a case has been registered in the local police station. Police are still to identify the accused behind the firing.
Rahul Jain, DCP, Jaipur East, said, “The firing happened post-midnight on Sunday near a hospital on JLN Marg. Initially the passengers in the car did not realise that they had been fired at and did not see anyone taking a shot at them. We are still trying to identify the accused and investigation is underway.”
The shots fired went through the back-window pane of the vehicle the complainant told TOI while he himself was not in the car at the time of firing. Sarvesh Lohiwal, the BJP councillor, whose car was fired upon said, “My family including wife, brother and his wife along with others were returning from Delhi late at night when suddenly they heard a loud noise and felt that something has hit the car. They initially thought it was a tyre burst and when they stopped the vehicle to check, they realised that the bullet had passed through the back-window pane. We lodged a complaint with the police station.”
Denying any enmity with anyone, Lohiwal added, “I have no suspicion on anyone on who could be behind this incident. My family did not see anyone following them. Police has assured me that they will check the CCTV footages in the area to identify the accused.”
