Vehicle halted near spot; images blurred

Days after two cows were found killed in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri, the police said they have seen suspicious movement of a car near the crime spot on a CCTV footage obtained from the area.

Sources said that the CCTV footage of the spot, recorded in the early hours of May 8, shows a car halting near the park for a while.

“The images are blurred but the car is seen stopping around 2.30 a.m. A few men can be seen coming out of the vehicle. They leave after a while. The car’s registration number is not clear though,” said a police officer. The police suspect that the crime was committed around the same time.

Two cows owned by Rai Singh, a resident of Kotla village, were found killed and cut into pieces in a park near Sanjay Lake early morning on May 8.

The police had registered a case under Section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Delhi Cattle Preservation Act.

Mr. Singh said he has visited the police station several times since the incident but has always been told that the investigation is under way. “The cops have not found the culprits yet,” he said.
