Odisha class 10th result 2019 announced, drop in pass percentage

BHUBANESWAR: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha released results of annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination on Tuesday. The average pass percentage 70.78% recorded against last year's pass percentage of 77.23%.

Girls outshine boys with 2,05,470 girls came out with flying colours while 1,91,655 boys passed the exam.


As many as 1181 students passed in A1 grade (above 90%), 9938 students passed in A2 grade (between 80-90%). As many as 24,991 secured B1 grade(70-80%) and 46,319 students passed in B2 grade (60-70%). Similarly 76, 139 students passed in C grade (50-60%) while 1,16,262 students passed in D grade (40-50%).


"The pass percentage dropped due to strict vigilance system and check on malpractice. We focused on quality results and not on quantity," said school and mass education secretary P K Mohapatra. CCTVs installed in over 400 schools and from next academic session all examination centres will be under CCTV survillance, he added.


Jharsuguda has the highest pass percentage of 85.48% while Koraput has lowest pass percentage of 50.61%.


As many as 82 schools have nil results while 289 schools have 100% results. "Explanations will be sought and action will be taken against teachers of the schools with nil results," said Mohapatra.


The results got delayed as electricity failure for more than a week due to cyclone Fani. The board also announced results of Madhyama and Open Schooling where pass percentage was 84.62% and 58.53% respectively. Students can apply for rechecking or readdition of answer sheets from May 24 in online mode. The board will conduct the supplementary exam in the last week of June, informed board president Jahan Ara Begum.
