PUNE: Kondhwa police on Tuesday claimed to have solved five recent burglaries case with the arrest of two accused on the police records. The police recovered gold and silver ornaments and an autorickshaw worth Rs 6.95 lakh from the duo.
The suspects have been identified as Mustapha Shakil Ansari and Amir Rafiq Shaikh, both from Kondhwa Khurd. A team of Kondhwa police, led by senior inspector Anil Patil, has made the arrests.
Recently, Anil Mansharamani of Yevalewadi lodged an FIR with the Kondhwa police about the burglary at his house. While probing the case, the Kondhwa police checked the CCTV footage near the residence of Mansharamani. “We had noticed one person moving suspiciously on the premises of the society,” Patil said.
Patil said that the police constables Amit Salunke and Jagdish Patil minutely found out that the suspect was driving an autorickshaw. “We followed the route of the autorickshaw and managed to get its registration number and also traced the owner,” Patil said.

Patil said that the police then contacted the owner who told the police he had given the vehicle to a driver. “We contacted the driver too who told us that one Amir Shaikh was driving the vehicle on shift basis,” Patil said.
Patil said that the police then took Shaikh into custody. During the questioning, he admitted his involvement in the thefts and also revealed Ansari’s name. “The duo had broken into three houses in Kondhwa and two in Wanowrie,” Patil said adding, “Our probe is on.”
