If you think only Indian parents are so interfering and controlling, you can't be more wrong. Parents all over the world do the craziest things out of concern for their child's wellbeing. But that doesn't mean they're not the coolest people around you. Here are some onscreen parents that show you that parenting can be tough, but they still manage to have fun with it. 

Dr. Jean Milburn in ‘Sex Education’
The series revolves around Dr. Jean Milburn, played by Gillian Anderson, and her 16-year-old son, Otis. The series portrays the new perspective to a mother and son relationship where the mom, being a sex therapist by profession, helps her son to find his first girlfriend. Since Jean is a headstrong parent who tends to blur the professional and personal lines with her son. Watch Sex Education on Netflix.

Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson in ‘Easy A’
Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson are the funniest, hippest and most easy-going parents to fill a frame. In Easy A, not only are they both whip-smart and happy to give their equally strong and intelligent daughter the benefit of the doubt; they’re also able to realise when well-considered discipline is necessary.

Phil Dunphy in ‘Modern Family’
Modern Family is an American Television mockumentary family sitcom created by Christopher Loyd and Steven Levitop. The show follows the lives of Jay Pritchett and his family, who reside in suburbs of Los Angeles. Phil played by Tyler Gerald Burrell, describes himself as a 'cool dad'.  A devoted family man, he dotes on his wife Claire and constantly tries to find ways to bond with his three kids, in which quite often falls short. He uses a parenting method that he calls 'Peerenting' which is a combination of talking like a peer, but acting like a parent. Phil is shown to be childlike and clumsy at times. Mitchell Mannes in ‘Blockers’
Blockers, the directorial debut of Kay Cannon (the writer of the Pitch Perfect series) talks about children, who are competent and savvy and are ready to head off to college while being armed with smartphones. However, they have no sense of how the world really works. In Blockers, parents discover that their daughters are planning to lose their virginities on prom night, and plan to take action against it. Mitchell Mannes, played by John Cena, is a father who expected a boy but ended up having a girl. He is an outrageous parent, but parties madly with his daughter and her friends. 

Frank in ‘Shameless’
Shameless is the story of a family of six kids and their drunk and selfish father. The eldest daughter Fiona raises her siblings on her own. They steal food and money to survive while their father takes everything and offers nothing. Frank, played by William. H. Macy, has a negative impact on his family. But after meeting with a major accident in season 3, he witnesses a transformation and makes sure his children are on the right path. He motivates them by changing himself and ends up living a sorted life henceforth. Watch Shameless on Amazon Prime.
