Pune: The Pune airport was put on high alert after officials of a private airline found some documents showing a map lying inside the terminal building near the departure area on May 6.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) provides security to major airports in the country as well as Pune airport.

The officials from New Delhi said officers of a private airline found the documents and submitted them to the Pune airport director’s office. They alerted the local police and the intelligence bureau.

According to sources from the Pune airport, the documents included a map and a sketch of the airport.

However, it has not been clear whether the map and the sketch match with any airport.

When contacted, Pune Airport Director Ajay Kumar confirmed that the documents were found and were handed over to the local police as per the procedure.

The private airline officials found the documents on May 6. The documents resemble a map and a sketch. It was handed over to the local police, he said.

However, a source looking into the matter, said, “The documents were found lying near the baggage makeup area. They probably fell off from a bag.”

“A written report, along with the documents, has been sent to the local police. They are investigating the matter, along with the military Intelligence and the IB,” the source added.

Officials privy to the investigation said, “We are verifying details, as a senior Army officer has claimed that he had forgotten his bag and the documents belong to him.”
