A 22-year-old man was arrested by the Ghatkopar police for stalking a 22-year-old dance teacher and sending her obscene messages and images. The accused Akash Majkure was harassing the woman for over a year and also called her from various numbers.

“The victim has stated that in 2015 she and the accused were in the same class in college. Majukure was in love with her and had even approached her then, but she refused his proposal. In August 2018, the accused started hanging out in front of the woman’s residence and watching her,” said an officer from Ghatkopar police station.

In March Majukure proposed marriage to her. When she turned him down, he started sending her abusive messages and obscene photos. Facing continuous harassment, the woman approached the police and filed a complaint.

The Ghatkopar police have registered a case against Majukure under sections 354 (A), 354 (D) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. He was arrested on May 17 and remanded in police custody.
