NEW DELHI: A
woman who works at a multinational company in Noida was
throttled and robbed by two youths while she was on her way back from work. The shocking incident was captured in a CCTV camera. The youths had pressed her throat to the extent that she had fallen unconscious. The incident happened in the presence of two schoolchildren who were walking past. Cops have arrested two of the accused from Trilokpuri.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon when the woman, Satendra Kaur, was walking towards her house in East Vinod Nagar. In the footage, the woman was seen walking through a lane when the two men quietly sneaked up behind her and suddenly grabbed her throat from behind. The women choked as they throttled her for some time. During this, one man wearing a white shirt took away her gold jewellery and phone. They then took her wallet from her handbag and pushed her down on the road before leaving.
Kaur told the police said that the chokehold was so hard, she started feeling dizzy and blacked out for a short while. In the footage, she was seen lying unconscious on the road for a few minutes. The two children passing by who had seen the incident walked up and raised an alarm and alerted other passersby. In the meantime, Kaur managed to regain her senses.
She managed to call her father from a passerby’s phone and informed him about the ordeal. Soon after, the family members reached the scene and took her to the hospital. The police were also informed.
DCP (east) Jasmeet Singh said that several teams from the Pandav Nagar police station were sent to identify the men from the CCTV footage. One of them, Arjun (24), was identified from his gait and tracked down to his home in Trilokpuri. Initially, he denied his involvement but later confessed. He led them to his associate, Dev alias Chikna, from the same area.
Police said that the two would follow women walking alone and grab them at isolated stretches. Arjun would choke them until they became unconscious while Dev would take their belongings.
Cops also arrested a jeweller named Shartaz, who used to buy the gold jewellery that the men robbed. The jewellery was also recovered from him.
