Man charged over Perth street fight involving a torch, two hospitalised

A fight between two men in Perth on Sunday morning has ended when one of the men was struck in the head with a torch and a woman trying to break them up was knocked to the ground.

Police allege the two men who are known to each other started fighting near the Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge about 1.25am on Sunday when a female tried to intervene and separate the pair.

A police spokesman said one of the men was hit to the head with a torch, while the woman was hit to the face causing her to fall to the ground.

A 51-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital while a 20-year-old woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police attended the scene and took a 25-year-old Bentley man into custody.

He was later charged with unlawful wounding, assault occasioning bodily harm, and give false personal details to police.

The 25-year-old is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.
