The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday sounded the yellow alert, forecasting thunderstorms, in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. Residents in both the districts have been asked to remain alert, as there were chances of flash floods and landslips for five days from Saturday. The directive also asked people to take precautionary measures against lightning strike and to avoid night-time travel to rural areas. Those residing closer to water bodies have been urged to be more cautious.
