All the action

Remember that feeling when you walked into a toy store as a kid? Oh the glee! When you walk into The Entertainment store, the same kind of excitement takes over. Just opposite Godrej Nature’s Basket at the intersection in Lane no 8, Koregaon Park, you can’t miss the store due to a large Batman printed across the doors. 

You’re greeted by a display of the cutest wobbleheads and collectible action figures at the entrance. And the whole store is divided into sections based on various fandoms. It starts with a stand themed on the animation film series How To Train Your Dragon, where you have action figures of Hiccup, Toothless and his lady dragon Light Fury, and many other dragons. Adjacent to that starts the long stack of shelves featuring almost all the characters from Marvel. In fond memory of the genius billionaire who paid the price of saving the world with his life in Avengers: Endgame, they have a set with Iron Man, Miss Potts and The Mandarin from Iron Man 3. You can also find the less-popular Avengers, another set with Scarlet Witch and Vision, and even a very uncanny Winter Soldier. We kid you not, name a character, even the ones who aren’t very popular in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and you’ll find their action figure on one of the racks. In fact, they even have characters who haven’t really made it to the screen yet and exist only in the comics. 

The store manager tells us that they source their collectibles from over 75 vendors based in different parts of the world — Belgium, Australia, USA, UK, China and so on. The brand also has in-house designers whose work is approved by Marvel before it is printed on exclusive collections of mugs and apparel by the store. 

If you want to feel like The Hulk, you can get the big green hands, if you’re more like Tony Stark, you can try on the high-tech Iron Man mask, or if you admire the God of Thunder, you can get yourself a Stormbreaker. 

Then comes the Harry Potter section where you meet models of all the professors that have taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry through the years along with Harry and his squad, including an adorable Dobby. A dream-come-true for Potterheads is the wand-remote which muggles can pair with their smart TV and swish it to change channels, change the volume and so on— just like the magical families. And there’s also a Triwizard Cup, which we hope isn’t a portkey to someplace you really don’t want to be. 

Along with the regular figures of Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Joker and Wonder Woman, the DC section also features the newest addition to the DC Universe, Shazam. They also have a selection of jaw-dropping Bat Mobiles designed intricately by some imaginative designers from various manufacturing houses. And while we’re talking about cars, you must check out the Fast and Furious section which displays miniature models such as Dom’s ice charger, Brian’s Toyota Supra and many other vehicles featured in the film series. 

The Game of Thrones section has a range of collectible figurines of Danaerys, Jon Snow, Tyrion drinking his wine, Cersie, Varys and so on. The GOT themed Monopoly comes with a speaker which plays the show theme that you need to turn on and place on the centre of the board while you play. The tokens are designed as the emblems, the currency is (fake) gold and silver, and there’s an Iron Throne too that the winner gets to claim. Along with framed posters and fun caricatures from the show, ardent fans can also buy the life-size replica of Jon’s sword Longclaw, though we have our doubts about it being  authentic Valyrian Steel.    

Other novelty Monopoly games include themes like Super Mario, Disney, and there’s one called the Cheaters Edition “for those who like to bend or break the rules as they sell, dream and scheme.”

The Disney section induces so much nostalgia. Featuring all your favourite cartoon characters from the ’90s right up to the present day, it has some pretty interesting stuff — like a wobblehead of Chucky from the spine-chilling Child’s Play, or the one with a skinned turkey stuck on Mr Bean’s head. You can also browse through the Dragon Ball Z section where you can find Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, Master Roshi, Piccolo, Trunks and everyone else from the franchise. The store also has an exclusive range of Tintin figurines depicting iconic moments from the comics and the movies. 

The apparel section not only stocks a wide range of men’s and women’s tshirts across all fandoms, but also costumes for adults and kids aged 4-7 years. There are snapbacks, skull caps, keychains, charm bracelets, and if you want to show off your coolness at work, they also have lanyards.   No matter what fandom you belong to, there’s something for everyone here.
