Constable attempts suicide

Cop attempts suicide: A 23-year-old police constable attempted to commit suicide after he was denied leave in the city on Saturday.
The constable was identified as S Mari Kannan of Bhavani in Erode district. He was working in Coimbatore armed reserve force battalion. He was deployed at Tirupur collectorate, said a police officer. The officer said Mari Kannan has asked for leave but he was denied. Following which, while he was on duty at the collectorate, he consumed overdose of sleeping pills. After he was found unconscious, his colleagues rushed him to the Tirupur government hospital. Kannan’s health is stable. tnn
