Your charger can double up as security device

Karan Shah, who innovated the smart charger
Vadodara: You might have often heard of batteries of cell phones getting damaged due to overcharging in the night.
Now, a city-based innovator Karan Shah has developed a smart charger that will help over this problem. This charger also acts as a security device as it detects any illegal presence in a room and turns on siren. And it can charge multiple electronic gadgets.
The smart charger developed by Shah, an automation consultant, has 20 different in-built programs to turn on and turn off time, which helps the user set specific time to charge the gadgets.
“It is said that overnight charging kills a battery or leads to explosion in cell phones. So, instead of conventional charger, I have developed a charger which will not damage the battery due to overnight charging,” said Shah.
Interestingly, Shah developed the smart charger after realising that his mother used to wake up early everyday to charge gadgets of all family members. “I wanted to make her task easy,” said Shah.
“As a user can set timings in the charger, the charger will automatically charge the gadget in the specific time frame and stop. Supposedly, the user has set 5 am as the first programme, the charging will start at that time and end at 6 am when 100 % charging is done,” said Shah.

“Also, there are six USB ports which are high-speed and hence can be used by all family members,” he said.
The low-weight charger can also be used for charging laptops, smart watches, tablets and other electronic gadgets. “Since it has artificial intelligence sensing capability, the portable charger can detect any unauthorised movement in the room which it has been kept. Whenever, it detects such a movement, it will turn on siren,” he said.
