An 11-year-old girl died in a freak mishap after she got entangled in a saree while playing at a relative’s house in Ayanavaram.
According to the police, the incident happened on Friday at her uncle’s house in Railway Colony on Pilkington Road, Ayanavaram.
The Class V student, Aswathi, a resident of Krishnagiri district, had come to her uncle Vinodh’s house for a vacation.
As her cousin was unwell and admitted to a hospital for treatment, the family members had gone out to visit him. Aswathi was playing alone on Friday afternoon after bolting the door from inside, when she accidentally got entangled in a saree that was used as a cradle in the house.
Lay unconscious
When a relative did not receive any response after ringing the door bell, he peeped through the window and saw the girl lying unconscious. Later, the door was broken open and the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her “brought dead”.
The ICF police sent her body to the Government Kilpauk Hospital for post-mortem.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
