Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said lifting of three tmc ft water every day from river Godavari to different parts of Telangana through Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) was like diverting a river to flow towards agriculture fields.
He along with several elected representatives and senior officials inspected and reviewed the progress of the project in the district on Sunday. He visited the construction sites of pump house at Kannepalli village and the barrage at Medigadda and interacted with the officials of the Irrigation Department and the work agencies.
Speedy completion
Stating that the project envisaged dependable irrigation facility to 45 lakh acres in the State, the Chief Minister complimented the engineers and work agencies for bringing the prestigious project close to completion at a commendable pace. Daring the scorching heat, he went around the construction sites inspecting each and every aspect. He also enquired about the status of work at several places and wanted the officials on the spot to ensure speedy completion.
He went inside the pump house in a lift and watched the work on erection of motors as the engineers apprised him of the process. Interacting with the officials, he told them to focus on early completion as well as its maintenance.
There should not be any compromise on the quality of work, he said and hoped that the project would be in a position to lift two tmc ft of water a day from July. He also suggested establishing a dedicated wireless communication system for the hassle-free operation of the pump houses and barrages of the project.
Further, the Chief Minister suggested establishing a trash track system in advance to prevent unwanted waste material from entering into the pump house and motors since huge capacity motors would be used to lift the water.
He also asked the engineers to complete the trial run (wet run) of the key pump houses by June-end.
