About 0.640 tmc ft of water released by Karnataka to meet the drinking water needs in the combined Mahabubnagar district was realised in Jurala reservoir till Sunday evening as the Karnataka authorities have increased the discharge from Girjapur barrage.
There was a constant decline in the discharge of water from Girjapur, the last point of water holding in Karnataka, after it was released from Narayanpur dam to Gugal barrage.
From the highest inflows of water released by Karnataka recorded as 2,970 cusecs on Thursday evening, it has come down to 850 cusecs on Saturday evening.
Inflow picks up
However, according to the irrigation officials at Jurala, the inflows started picking up again from Sunday morning when they were recorded at 1,103 cusecs and it further increased to 2,000 cusecs by the evening.
The water released by Karnataka started reaching Jurala around midnight on May 14 and in four days and 18 hours till 6 p.m. on Sunday, the water realised was 0.640 tmc ft.
The Karnataka State has released 2.5 tmc ft water to Telangana following a request made by the latter.
