Bhopal: In Khargone Congress performed well after promising farm loan waiver. For Lok Sabha elections, it is relying on Rahul Gandhi’s NYAYA scheme. However, BJP hopes to encash on Narendra Modi’s popularity.
The mood of the people of Madhya Pradesh’s Malwa-Nimar region is very close to the mood of the people of the country, so the party that wins here is successful in forming the government at the Centre.
Therefore, election results of all 8 seats of this region are of great significance in the last phase of Lok Sabha election as the region is considered as a BJP stronghold and the roots of RSS are also very deep.
This is probably the reason that in the 2014 Modi wave, BJP had occupied all 8 seats in this region in the general elections.
It is another matter that after a year and a half Congress returned to power from the Ratlam Jhabua seat in the by-election, and Kantilal Bhuria was elected MP from here.
After this there was no looking back, as Congress decided to wean this seat from the BJP and earned a respectable victory in the election of local bodies.
Congress won 36 seats out of 64 assembly seats in the state assembly polls held five months back and formed the government in the state although it had only 9 seats in hand earlier.
Congress wants to maintain this change in the Lok Sabha election.
