Bharatiya Janata Party State president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday said that Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan needed to be more mature in politics.
Speaking to reporters at the Tiruchi airport, Ms. Tamilisai said Mr. Haasan had a feeling that whatever he speaks would be accepted by people owing to his popularity in films.
Regarding his recent remarks on Nathuram Godse which triggered controversy, Ms. Tamilisai wondered whether he was speaking out of immaturity or to garner votes. The BJP leader said the stone pelting attacks on him could not be accepted. But Mr. Haasan should also realise that his remarks were bound to evoke response. she said.
Ms. Tamilisai made it clear that there was no need for the BJP to have a secret truck with Mr. Haasan. Her party had condoned those who had remarked that Nathuram Godse was a patriot.
To a question, she said if the permission accorded to some companies for exploration of hydrocarbons in some districts affected farmers, it should be reconsidered.
