ICC World Cup 2019: Pakistan fast bowler picks India as one of the semi-finalists
Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has picked his four semi-finalists for the ICC ODI World Cup 2019
cricket Updated: May 18, 2019 19:57 ISTWith less than 2 weeks remaining for the ICC ODI World Cup 2019, current and former cricketers have come out in numbers in picking their favourites for the tournament. The latest in the list is Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz. The left-arm seamer, who is not a part of Pakistan’s World Cup squad, has picked his four semi-finalists for the World Cup.
Putting his weight firmly behind Pakistan, Riaz said, he would love to see the Sarfraz’s side lift the trophy. “My favourite team is Pakistan, obviously. I would love to see Pakistan win. We have a good team and I am expecting better results from them,” Riaz was quoted as saying by Geo.tv
Pakistan, currently ranked 6th in the ICC ODI rankings, last won the World Cup in 1992 under Imran Khan’s captaincy in Australia.
Apart from Pakistan, Riaz named India, Australia and hosts England as the other three semi-finalists of World Cup 2019. “I think other than Pakistan, India, England, and Australia are teams that can make it to final four of the tournament,” he said.
Pakistan are currently playing a five-match series against England, which they have already lost 3-0, despite scoring near 350 runs in each of those ODIs.
Pakistan start their 2019 World Cup campaign against West Indies on May 31 before taking on the hosts England on June 3.
