The installation of biometric systems at various government schools here are happening at a steady pace. The Education Department officials are targeting to finish the installation works in the district by June 1.
According to officials here, the biometric devices for attendance are being installed at all government and government-aided schools here and once the school reopens after summer vacations, the attendance of all teaching and non-teaching staff at government schools here will be recorded through the biometric attendance system.
The officials said that the installation works were nearing completion at 118 high schools and 130 higher secondary schools here and details of staff are being loaded into systems. Personal details of staff such as name, address, job position and their fingerprint data were recorded for attendance purposes.
A senior official from the department said that once the schools reopened, the attendance details of staff would be recorded through the biometric system. Though initially, attendance would be recorded both on the biometric system and physical register, later it would be completely recorded through biometric system.
