Alleging that Delhi Police personnel in his security detail could target him, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Saturday that the BJP was planning to get him killed, and that he would work for the country until his last breath.
The Delhi Police denied his charges and said that the personnel in its security unit provided protection to dignitaries of all political parties in the national capital, and were “thoroughly committed” to their job.
Kejriwal made the remarks on Twitter after returning from Punjab after campaigning ended Friday. “BJP kyun mujhe marvana chahti hai? Mera kasoor kya hai? Main desh ke logon ke liye school aur aspatal hi toh banva raha hoon. Pehli baar desh main school aur aspatal ki sakaratmak rajneeti shuru hui hai. BJP isko khatm karna chahti hai. Lekin antim saans tak main desh ke liye kaam karta rahunga,” he said.
“(Why does BJP want to get me killed? I am only making schools and hospitals for people of this country. For the first time, positive politics has started. The BJP wants to end this, but I will work for the country until my last breath).”
Earlier, Kejriwal told a news channel that his security officers report to the BJP government and the party can get him killed by his PSOs. He cited Indira Gandhi’s assassination to make his point. “I have no control over my security detail… My life can end in two minutes,” he told Punjab Kesari.
