A total of 3.04 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes in the byelection for Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency on Sunday.

The polling will take place in 297 polling stations. Sources in the District Election Office said that basic amenities like ramps for physically challenged people, toilets, and drinking water facilities had been ensured in all the stations. Similarly, cameras had been installed in all the polling stations, sources added. The polling will happen from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Around 1,200 polling personnel were issued orders on Saturday with details on which polling station they have been assigned to. The officials started reporting at the respective polling stations from Saturday evening, following which the polling materials, including Electronic Voting Machines and Voter-verified Paper Audit Trail machines, were delivered to the stations by the zonal teams.

Officials said that adequate number of police personnel and personnel from Central Armed Police Forces would be deployed in all polling stations. They said that they were expecting the voter turnout to be higher than what was witnessed during the parliamentary elections.
