Thane: Coconut tree falls on loo, three injured

THANE: Three rural police staffers, V. K. Mane (42), N.R. Awhad (26) and D.N. Gaware (26), had a narrow escape after a huge coconut tree crashed on to a restroom in the old Thane area on Friday morning.
Tree authority officials along with the Regional Disaster Management Cell and the fire brigade rushed to the spot and cleared the debris.
"The injured were taken to the nearby Civil hospital and discharged after treatment," said Santosh Kadam, the Thane RDMC chief.
The three suffered minor injuries while others in the restroom escaped unhurt. Over 110 instances of tree and branch falls have been reported in Thane ahead of the rains.
