Kedarnath (Uttarakhand), Hours after exuding confidence that his government would return to power and days before the counting for the Lok Sabha elections on May 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday offered prayers at the Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand.
According to sources, Prime Minister chose the solemn occasion of Buddha Purnima to visit the shrine.
This is Modi’s second visit to the temple in the last two years.
The campaigning for the seventh and the last phase of the general election ended on Friday. In the last phase of voting on Sunday, 59 constituencies will go the polls including Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and nine in West Bengal.
Prime Minister is seeking re-election from Varanasi but skipped campaigning since April 26 when he had visited the ancient temple city to file nomination papers.
Mr Modi is likely to visit Badrinath shrine on Sunday.
In a series of tweets, Prime Minister meanwhile extended good wishes to the people on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
In two other tweets, he wrote – “Majestic mountains! Clicked these pictures while on the way to Kedarnath”.
He also wrote “Reviewing aspects of the ongoing Kedarnath Development Project” and posted a video of his interactions with the officials.
