PUNE: The Hadapsar police have arrested a 27-year-old woman for assaulting a woman police constable, hurling abuses at policemen and tearing the case papers that the police had prepared to file an offence against her in the Phursungi police chowkey on Friday afternoon.
Police have withheld the identity of the woman, though the officials said she is a casual labourer.
On Friday morning, the woman had hired an autorickshaw to go to a particular place in Hadapsar, the police said. On reaching the spot, she requested the autorickshaw driver to take her to another location in the area. Subsequently, she made the autorickshaw driver take her to three more spots.
After about an hour of driving the woman to various locations, autorickshaw driver Vitthal Lashkar sought the payment of the fare on reaching the Phursungi area. However, the woman refused to pay claiming that she needed the money. Her response shocked the autorickshaw driver and he argued with the woman, the police officials said. During the argument, the woman slapped the driver, they added.

The autorickshaw driver then asked her to sit in the vehicle and drove to the police chowkey. The policemen at the chowkey heard his complaint and then started the procedure to register a Non-Cognisable (NC) offence against the woman, police said.
The woman, who was already angry, snatched the NC documents from the hands of a policeman and started hurling abuses at the personnel present in the chowky. She then tore up the documents. When a woman constable tried to save the documents, the woman beat her up and damaged the computer table in the chowkey.
