Dr. G.Viswanathan Hospitals on Saturday launched an Integrated Liver Care Clinic at Mambazhasalai in the city.
Free screening and consultation will be offered to patients on Saturdays at the clinic. Four specialists - Karthik Mathivanan, liver transplant specialist; N. Radhakrishnan, Gastroenterologist; V Sundararaj, diabetologist; and R. Parthasarathy, general physician, will offer consultations on all Saturdays and have scheduled the third Saturday of every month to screen patients for liver diseases. “Sedentary lifestyle affects an individual's liver functioning. Apart from that, those with diabetes are also prone to it. So, we got together to create awareness on the incidence of the disease," said Dr. Radhakrishnan.
“Many people die before diagnosis because they take jaundice or other liver diseases lightly. The fibroscan, which will show the liver’s condition is all one needs to do,” said Dr. Mathivanan.
